 Play Review "Romeo and Juliet"

This Friday 09/01/2017 my IB Lit & Performance class went on the trip to see one of the oldest and greatest plays in the world, "Romeo and Juliet". It was my first time seeing this play or something that was constructed that way. Everything in that exact play was build perfectly, the facility this play was built in, costumes, but what made me laugh and confused is the music that was on background. The songs that were playing in this play is the music from our generation. The most obvious and interesting part in this play was that all characters that were playing their roles in this play were highlighted, and in many other plays, where minor characters stay in the background, you won't see something like that. "Romeo and Juliet" is a drama as it’s supposed to be, but the director, producer and actors that were working on this play made us the audience feel all kinds of emotions. This play showed me that story can have more than one of them, because this story had four: responsibility, true love, family and consciousness that's what made me understand and enjoy this play.
I don’t usually go to see plays but this time I actually enjoyed watching it not only because of the plot of the story but because firstly it was outside, secondly it was nice weather, finally I was with some of my friends so it wasn't that bad. The choices that the producer made while making this play are important and helpful for the audience to understand the characters and the balance between drama and comedy that as a fact this play has. The drama that was happening between families and Romeo and Juliet was easy to understand because this story was made to be a drama, but the comedy that was in this play was so unexpected; in this play the producer and actors were showing the comedy through their dance that they put between the dramatic parts. Also the music that they used in their dance is the music that our generation is listening to, so that part helps teenagers my age be a part of this act.
This play doesn't really have many actors; however, they made it seems like there are. From my point of view all the actors in this play showed themselves and highlighted their character and showed their role in the play. In this play there are many characters that serve different family but they are really similar to each other. As an example there were two characters that loved to fight and make fun of everyone, a man who served Romeo's family that lost the fight to the similar character to him that service Juliet’s family but she is the woman and she died in the battle with Romeo. The producer made those character seem more active and fun in this play than in the original  "Romeo and Juliet" play that's what made audience like it.
This play is by far one of the best plays I have seen even though I don’t really go to plays but this one it was something different. I have never seen those kinds of combinations that this play had; obviously the combination between pop music that our generation is listening to and historical drama  "Romeo and Juliet" that was written  between 1591 and 1595 the two generations that are different from each other by far by far. The second big combination that they decided to do is drama and comedy that are two different genres, and they used comedy as well as they did with drama. The comedy was when they were dancing while playing music from our generation, and the drama was between families. This play showed me something that confused me like how can you mix two big and different genres, and obviously how the producer made this play fun to watch for teenagers with putting songs from our generation.
