IB DESCRIPTORS FOR WRITTEN COURSEWORK

Literary analysis:

 There is a sound, detailed analysis of the chosen extract supported by relevant references. I try to put out all the information and details for the paragraph, draft, or essay. I support my theme with a background information or any kind of details. In my opinion, throughout the year, my writing and my skills towards writing improved as well as my strategy in the way of writing or remembering things. 

 Exploration of the chosen approach to the text:


There is a focused and detailed exploration of how the chosen approach has realized the dramatic potential of the extract. During my assessments, I usually focus on approaching and realizing the main ideas of my writing and exploring the sentences that I'm concerned about. I maintained a skill that helps me to get into the details while I check my writing. 

Use of language, structure:

The work is well organized, with appropriate use of language. This class gave me the right idea of a proper writing and work as a group or individual. I try my best to keep my papers organized and focused on the theme. In my opinion, my writing has improved from what it used to be at the beginning of the year. However, occasionally I still make mistakes from being disrupted or individually unprepared.

Ivan Kapkov IB Literature & Performance Ms. Guarino Review  “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” On Friday 11/11/17 I visited a play that was adapted by my classmates. The name of the play is “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” by Bertolt Brecht written in 1944 while he was living in America. Interesting fact about the performance is that it was initially made for Broadway, but the play didn’t go that far so students started presenting it in their schools and colleges. The play was initially translated by Eric Bentley. This play is based on the aftermath of WWII, in which the “villagers” are complaining on who will control the valley . This play focuses on an act of true love and courage performed by a servant girl named Grusha Vachnadze and how she is judged by society regarding to her choices. Ch 6/7

Chapter 6 starts with the description of the environment, and the growth of the seeds after the storm season which brought a large amount of rain on to the island. Later in the chapter, we can witness the conversation that Desiree is having with Tonton. That conversation shows the reader the conflict and the difference between the poor and the rich. Their conversation is mainly focused on Tonto describing his hometown Monsieur beau home. After listening to Tonto for a long time and hearing all those tempting things about Monsieur beau home, she is desperate to leave her village and see new opportunities and new life. "Caroline's Wedding"

The story that includes many characters and their struggle throughout the Story. "Caroline's Wedding" contains 3 main characters; the narrator Grace, older sister Caroline, and their mother Hermine. Each character has her own obstacle to get through.  The story begins with Grace receiving good news from the embassy, saying that she received U.S citizenship. She immediately called her mother and sister and shared the good news.
