For the past two weeks, our class have been working on poetry structures and its meaning. All the poems are different and there is a big difference between reading a poem and performing it in a way it wasn't bullied for. This Tuesday my class had an assigned project; to create a presenting form that’s not usual for a written poem. It was a really interesting and creative assignment that helped us to embrace our thoughts and ideas, and to connect pieces to something that we thought would be a proper and smart idea. Reading poetry is part attitude and part technique, however, presenting a composition that hasn’t been written for your purposes is a complicated assignment to complete. When people read a poem written by a different author out loud, or even in their heads, they will pause and make mistakes; so that was one of the obstacles on our way to success. Reading a poem is what I call is observing an information that you have never seen; to perform a poem you have to have the completely different strategy, during the performance you have to express the feeling that the author created, you have to intrigue the audience otherwise you did all this work for nothing. Expressing your feelings is not the only thing you have to produce and conquer, facial expressions are also really productive during the performance constantly created just for the audience to feel the vibe of the performance.
Also, a really important thing that I learned during the process of creating a different style is that accuracy, accents on the words are really productive and can help to create a proper mood to the poem. We divided our performance into two different styles: reading the poem in different words rapping and singing it. Me, Moll, and Jack were rapping while Nan chronicle sang it with perfect components and style. In our performance, we used a beat by artist “Drake” which connected with the lyrics that we choose.
In my opinion, my group successfully completed the project. Obviously, it wasn't perfect considering the time that we were given to complete the work. We sometimes couldn't follow the beat or pronounce our lines as we wanted to, but at the end, it was a great experience that will hold on to us. Our leadership and our main goal are what brought us to the success.
