Blog post 3 Compering "Night Women to New York Day Women"

Night Women and New York Day Women are two different stories, that come from two different narrators with different life experience who live in a different society and culture. Both narrators describe a specific moment in their life, however, both in different ways. Night Women describes her own struggle and the way she sees it's in her own way, while  the narrator in New York Day Women tell us a story of how she followed her mother arouned New York and watched her for distance in order to maintain the confidence that her mother will be safe on her own in the city.
Night women is a story based on a hard working woman who does everything to protect her son and compensate their lost by doing something that she is ashamed of. The family live on the island known as Haiti. The government does not provide people with a lot of work options especially women, and as far as we know she doesn't have a proper man in her life who supports her, so she has to maintain a stable life and in order to do that she had to choose the night women life. This story describes the life of a widow women who struggle in life, however, she has to provide her son with education and comfort. In order to do that she decided to maintain a simple life as a prostitute; which brings harm and disrespect to her name and her health. She has to lie to her son, to protect him from the outside world and community, and for him to stay innocent. This story is based on love, hate, struggle, and lies, and ways to get through all of it.
New York Day Women is a special story that is based on two females mother and daughter that moved to New York City. This story is special because of the plot and the environment of the story. A young woman from Haiti named Suzzete spying on her mother throughout her lunch break, concerned about what her mother does in the different country, culture, and environment. The story in which Haitian's immigrant's dream becomes a reality after moving to another country and pursuing a successful career. New York Day Women defines the struggle of moving from one culture to another and following the dream.  After moving to the US we can see how Suzzete's mother having difficulties with adapting to the big city, community, and the environment, however, she maintains the cultural specificities and finally gets a new life in the new world. Both mother and Suzzete get many different opportunities by moving to the US which they could not have thought of while living in Haiti.
Both stories are based on two different realities that can be defined only by its characters and positions in which they were obligated to be. Night Women lives in a tough environment in which the only way to survive is by getting through each day by doing what she hates, however, has to do for her son. New York Day Women is a story where everything worked out for the characters and they moved on and have an opportunity to start all over again and pursue their dreams. Moving to the US was a lucky gift for them to start their lives over again, and use all the opportunities that are given to them by the new culture. Whether as Night Women who is still struggling in Haiti does not have any other options besides staying home and following her career as a prostitute.
