"Epilogue"

In the last part of the book " Epilogue ", the story/conversation comes from the narrator whose name is not provided, however, in my opinion, the narrator of this story is Danticat the author of the book. Danticat provides a story from her life, in order to show the obstacles that were put in her way before she became the person who she is right now. The narrator is a daughter who describes the comparison between her writing and hair braiding. Story provides. us with mothers point of view that declares the negative side of writing.  Her mother point of view mainly focuses on why writing is not the best way to live and maintain a career in the environment where they live at the moment. A big portion of the "Epilogue" explains the reason and the reason for that are the consequences in form of a conflict with the government and then prison that might follow her in future. Narrators mother wants her to become a nurse. The narrators' argument against that is that she is being protected by all the hard-working women who have suffered from living the life of a regular employee.
