"Seeing Things Simply" notes
- The main Character is a Princess, who lives a life that doesn't reflect on her in any negative way. She is trying to earn money by modeling.
- She works with a famous art compositor Catherine, who offered Princess to work as a model.
- Her job requires her to get naked and pose for Catherin, however, for a while Princess feels uncomfortable but when the time comes she unbraces her fear.
- The only fear towards this job is that someone finds one of the paintings of her.
- During a couple of the sessions, they do not work they mainly just sit and talk to each other about a variety of things that surrounded them.
- Catherin leaves her house for a while in order to sell some of her work and visit the grave of her mentor, during that time Princess is just enjoying everything that surrounds her.
- When Catherin comes back she gives Princess one of the portraits that she painted for her as a present. Princess realises the reason she wants to be a part of this, and the reason for that is that she wants to leave some sort of legacy behind her when she dies.
- The story ends and begins with the sound of cockfights.
- This story is very different from the rest of the stories in " Krik Krak", this story does not provide us with any violent texture besides cockfights. This story connects us to the simple way of leaving life in Haiti and the opportunity to pursue the dreams.
- The plot, Princess is the main character who pursuing her dream as a model by working for Catherine who is a special artist that came from Paris. Sometimes she feels uncomfortable because of the style that Catherine uses to draw her, sometimes Catherin require her to get naked and stay like that for a long time in order to finish the work. When Catherine left to Paris, princess started to think about art and her becoming an artist and creating something her own. At the end of the story, she decides to switch her main hobby from being a model to being at the artist.
