Ch 6/7

Chapter 6 starts with the description of the environment, and the growth of the seeds after the storm season which brought a large amount of rain on to the island.
Later in the chapter, we can witness the conversation that Desiree is having with Tonton.
That conversation shows the reader the conflict and the difference between the poor and the rich. Their conversation is mainly focused on Tonto describing his hometown Monsieur beau home.
After listening to Tonto for a long time and hearing all those tempting things about Monsieur beau home, she is desperate to leave her village and see new opportunities and new life. However, the people in her village don’t think it's the right idea.

Chapter 7 :

This chapter starts with prayers that Desiree send to Gods.
Desiree's biggest desire is to run away and to start her life over again, after talking to Tonto she wants a new life for herself and new adventures
After the conversation between Tonto and Mama Euralie the only thing that can decide her destiny are the Gods.
Desiree and Mama Euralie are going to the church where Desiree’s future will be discussed and decided.
Throughout the process, she sees the God she truly believes in Agwe god of water and Erzulie the god of love.
