Adaptation experience

Ivan Kapkov IB Literature Performance Ms. Guarino From the beginning of this year I was really excited to participate in this class and progress each and every day. Romeo and Juliet was our biggest project, we were working on it through the entire semester. We participated in many activities that are related to this play, our class went to see the play, we read the play, we wrote a lot of blogs about the play and many more. The great thing about this class and projects that do, is they’re not only informative but at the same time they’re interesting. I have never whatch or read Romeo & Julieta until this school year, and in fack I didn’t only learn about the play I improved my writing and communication skills. The last project that we were doing on in the past two weeks was about adapting one of the scene from Romeo & Julieta into our own story with different characters, scenes, actions and tools, and in the end we filed the the acts that we created. The adaptation seen t...

Review “The Caucasian Chalk Circle”

Ivan Kapkov IB Literature & Performance Ms. Guarino Review  “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” On Friday 11/11/17 I visited a play that was adapted by my classmates. The name of the play is “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” by Bertolt Brecht written in 1944 while he was living in America. Interesting fact about the performance is that it was initially made for Broadway, but the play didn’t go that far so students started presenting it in their schools and colleges. The play was initially translated by Eric Bentley. This play is based on the aftermath of WWII, in which the “villagers” are complaining on who will control the valley . This play focuses on an act of true love and courage performed by a servant girl named Grusha Vachnadze and how she is judged by society regarding to her choices. There are two parts of the story: Part I is the story of Grisha's lifestyle and the difficult choices she must make to survive with the baby, while Part II follows and explains the care...

Adaptation Project Romeo and Julieta

Ivan Kapkov  IB Literature & Performance  Ms. Guarino  Setting : The scene that i'm going to adapt is the scene where Tybalt kills Marcuctio. Everything starts with  Mercitio and his gang spending good time " Playing video games " relaxing on the little island that belongs to  Montague  family. The reason they own this island is because it's the only place where Capulets can't bother them. This Island was constructed only for relaxation and family meetings. But the reason Mercurio get's killed is because Tybalt saw Romeo and Mercurio at the party that Capulet gave in the name of Juliet's and Paris's marriage, and Capulet was the one who stopped the beginning of the disaster that Tybalt was about to start. Tybal heard Romeo and Mercurio talking about their traditional family meeting on the island, where he came up with a idea to finish what he wanted at the party. As I sa...

The Montagues and Capulets are two royal families who have been at  relevant war for many years. Romeo is a young gentleman from Montague's family he is 16 years old.
