Ivan Kapkov IB Literature & Performance Ms. Guarino The theater is a part of our culture, history, and future, our ancestors were educated from theaters the plays and by performers. Konstantin Stanislavski in one of his quotes said “ Create your own method. Don't depend slavishly on mine. Makeup something that will work for you! But keep breaking traditions, I beg you.” Stanislavski was known for creating a method acting, allowing actors to use their personal histories to express “authentic emotion” as well as “emotional memory” and create rich characters. After the method was created and well known after tours an around Europe and US other actors and teachers started using and involving the method of Stanislavski. This method was created to express “authentic emotion” as well as “emotional memory” and create rich characters, that audiences were looking for in the performances. The method of Stanislavski was the work of his life as he said in one of his Interviews. The lesson...

Scene proposals

Ivan Kapkov Scene proposals due by midnight. Discuss the scene, why it interests you, what character you'll play & why (& how it will challenge you as an actor), the importance of this scene in play & what literary analysis you hope to explore  The scene that we chose is the scene where Tom and Amanda get into a big fight over something that doesn't really matter, but at the end reflects on Laura. Everything starts with Amanda giving Tom an advice on how he should hold his back while he's writing, Tom gets offended and starts arguing with her about how she gets in his way a distracts him from his work. Amanda screams at him that he can't stay out late at night and still do a good day's work. Tom reminds her how much he hates his job at the warehouse. He tries to put his coat on but he can’t and so his clumsy attempts brings him to a position where he throws it to the other side of the room, where it hits Laura’s glass menagerie, her collection of...

possible seans

Defiantly I would want to explore more about the relationship that Tom and Laura have. The way Tom takes care of Laura and pretends that nothing is wrong with her. How Laura takes care of her brother and stands for his right to make his own division and to make his own career by being independent.  Second possible sean could be the fact that Tom leaves every time to go to the "movies"- by that he means bars. Why he does it? what is he hiding from/who?  The third possible sean is the fights that Tom and Amanda get into every time Amanda doesn't like something. The way she is acting and being disrespectful in terms of Toms life and future career. How Tom pretends that wants to stay in the household but in reality, the only thing he wants is to leave and to start his own life/career.  The fourth possible sean would be the act where Tome comes back from a performance from being drunk and Laura from being stressed and scared comes h...
