“Seize the Day”

Ivan Kapkov IB Literature & Performance Ms Guarino “Seize the Day” a poem that was written by the author named Judith Ortiz. Judith by writing this poem tried to fulfil the community with something that will describe the meaning of time that we have and how we should enjoy and respects the moments that have happened to us or going to.  In my understanding Judith idea of naming this poem “Seize the Day” creates a specific subject and tells us to make the most of the present because what happened at this moment might never happen again. No matter how big or small your goal in life is - for example, whether it’s a music that you want to create for your own album or building a school project everything will start with you making the first step. Everybody starts small and then they see the result; there’s no better way to seize the day than doing it now, right where you are and stay and enjoy this moment for as long as you can. Judith has multiple lines in her poem that describe...

The Poet Who Never Was

The Poet Who Never Was I thought I was a poet who had a pen of gold With clear access to writing that was mature and bold. I thought I could go roaming beside the foaming sea And watch the seagulls gliding to give a show for free. I thought I was a poet who walked along the beach In awe I stood and wondered, my hand stretched out to reach The silver thread dividing the water from the sky And traced Selena’s features as slowly she went by.
Ivan Kapkov IB Literature & Performance Ms Guarino For the past two weeks, our class have been working on poetry structures and its meaning. All the poems are different and there is a big difference between reading a poem and performing it in a way it wasn't bullied for. This Tuesday my class had an assigned project; to create a presenting form that’s not usual for a written poem. It was a really interesting and creative assignment that helped us to embrace our thoughts and ideas, and to connect pieces to something that we thought would be a proper and smart idea. Reading poetry is part attitude and part technique, however, presenting a composition that hasn’t been written for your purposes is a complicated assignment to complete. When people read a poem written by a different author out loud, or even in their heads, they will pause and make mistakes; so that was one of the obstacles on our way to success. Reading a poem is what I call is observing an information that you h...

“Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost

Ivan Kapkov IB Literature Performance Ms. Guarino “Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost Poem The “Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost is a poem a bout making a decision that could possibly change a person's entire life. This poem was written in the first person, which raises the question of whether the speaker is the poet himself or a character created for the purposes of the poem. The author stands in the woods where he must make a decision which way he should go, both ways are equally worn and equally overlaid with untrodden leaves. The speaker stands in the yellow woods, considering a fork in the road. Both ways are equally worn and equally overlaid with untrodden leaves. Life is always a journey, this poem highlights those times in life when a decision has to be made. The language in this poem constantly uses an old and strong language that makes reader confused at some point. In my opinion, this poem must be one of the most - often - misunderstood poems are known to ...

Library poems

CA library is a quiet place Where the great secrets lies Mrs. Hovasse p asses every day on her rounds The books are whispering to her  She can hear them but I can't

This is just to say.

After reading this poem the first thing that u notice is that it doesn't make any sense. However, the rhyme in this poem makes u concentrate and observe the poem.  The way author expresses himself makes us think that that plum was one of the biggest things that have ever happened to him.  Story-wise, it's hard to say that the meaning is confusing because he talks about plums that he ate but at the same time it doesn't make any sense.   This poem gives a good visual picture that shows that the poem was written not for vibe rhythm or strong language, but for imagination purposes.  By the name of the poem " This is just to say. " we can predict that this poem wasn't written to impress someone it was written just because.

Poetry 35-75

The Lion  The differences between poetry and prose is that poem is written in lines that do not necessarily make any sense. However, the prose is printed & written. Lenght and Rhythm  Each line of the poem can be divided into feet and each foot into stresses. The process of dividing a line into its metrical feet and each foot into its individual parts is called scansion.  An iambic foot is one light stress followed by one heavy stress.  Five iambic feet strung together to create an iambic pentameter line. Constancy  The rhythmic pattern of the poem. It takes no more than 3 lines for a rhythm o transfer to a reader. The quick response to the prevailing rhythmic pattern is true of " free " verse as well as metrical verse, even though the pattern in free-form poems is less mathematically measurable than it is metric verse.  The length and the established rhythm changes the very physiological mood of the reade...

Notes More Devises of Sound

This poem holds multiple effective devices that are used over and over in the text.  Each of them creates and outlines the language that the author used during his poem, what help reader to stay thrilled. This poem gives you the illustrative alliteration, that gives us the idea of the environment in this poem.  From reading this poem the first thing that I felt was the strong language that the author was using to describe what he saw. It's a material that will exist forever, every part of this poem will live forever and works in conjunction with every other par.

A Poetry HandBook Notes

A Poetry Handbook Notes: Robert Frost's Stopping By Woods on a Snowing Evening By the first paragraph, I can feel and understand the message that author trying to send by expressing his thoughts of woods and the falling snow.  The introduction of this poetry id the interior monologue ' no louder than the snow falling, are interacted with little raps of sharped sounds-not mallets, not that heavy, but different.  The transitions in this poem are hard to catch because they happen too fast because of a different kind of electricity flows.  Stanza  There, " the woods are lovely" takes us back to the vibe of our first stanza " Darka and deep"  This poem was written in order to statement of human resolution and ambivalence. By bringing strong technical devices his statement was much stronger and interesting.
